Arts & Culture Commission Call for Artists

Arts & Culture Commission seeks artists for Snowy Project

Calling all artists. The North St. Paul Arts & Culture Commission requests your participation in an upcoming community art project.
The snowman is a longtime mascot for the City, and as part of the launch of the new Arts & Culture Commission, the Commission plans to honor our hometown with a visible celebration of its legacy. Recognizing the success of community statue events around the world such as the Peanuts characters in St. Paul, the Donkeys and Elephants in Washington D.C. and many others, the Commission is proud to create "Snowy" the snowman statues for the City of North St. Paul.

The purpose of Project Snowy is to encourage unity and celebrate the North St. Paul Community's rich diversity. The project encourages design concepts that incorporate the North St. Paul Arts and Culture Commission's mission "to inspire connection and community through the development of public art and cultural expression."
This fall, businesses throughout the community will feature a number of Snowy the snowman statues, custom designed by local artists. The Snowy statues will be on display throughout North St. Paul.
The Arts & Culture Commission invites you to participate in this event by applying to become a Project Snowy Artist. Artists will design and decorate a Snowy statue. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-visibility project. Selected artists will receive an honorarium of $1,000 for each approved design. This honorarium includes materials and the execution of the design.
Find more information including the design guidelines and expectations online here.
Submit your designs by August 15, 200 via this form.
