Local Scout Plans to Build Wood Duck Houses for the City

woodduckhousenewsflash

Rahul Faizer, a Boy Scout with Troop 462 in Little Canada, is working on his Eagle Scout project in North St Paul. He plans on building six wood duck houses by reusing old wood pallets. Five of the houses will be at Casey Lake Park, with another to replace an old wood duck house in Southwood Nature Preserve. His Eagle Scout Project also includes leading a team of volunteers to set up all six wood duck houses and installing wood chips around the houses for the ducks. This project aims to help the local ecosystem by providing a habitat for wood ducks.

Donations will be put towards buying materials and tools for building these wood duck houses. Materials include posts, PVC pipe, clamps, screws, membranes, hardware cloth, and contact cement. While most tools will be borrowed, paint brushes will need to be bought as well. This project aims to have a low cost per wood duck house, at around $70 per house. Any extra funds would go to the North St Paul Public Works or Parks & Recreation, or to build more wood duck houses. Faizer is grateful to any donor who can help him reach his fundraising goal.

Residents can support this Eagle Project through Rahul Faizer's GoFundMe site here.
