Election Judge Duties

Election judges are paid officials trained to handle all aspects of voting at a polling place on Election Day. Anyone eligible to vote in Minnesota and able to read, write and speak English can serve.

Time Commitment

Election judges must complete a two-hour training. Training is available online and in-person the month before the election.Trained judges work the Primary Election and the General Election typically from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

State law requires employers to provide employees time off from work to serve as an election judge without a reduction in pay.
