Tree Trimming

North St. Paul Public Works crews trim trees along the boulevards throughout North St. Paul. Winter is the ideal time to prune trees and help prevent the spread of diseases like oak wilt and Dutch elm, according to City Forester Josh Bond. The City trims and maintains trees on public right-of-ways for a variety of reasons.
Tree trimming is necessary
  • To improve the health and appearance of trees
  • To lessen interference with vehicle traffic, pedestrians and buildings
  • To remove limbs that could fall and cause damage or injury
  • To remove limbs that obstruct traffic signs, signals, street lighting and power lines
