North St. Paul is currently accepting applications for paid-per-call firefighters through October 9, 2017. All candidates complete Firefighter I and Firefighter II courses, physical agility tests and receive medical and hazmat training. A pension plan is also included with vesting after serving a minimum of ten years. In 2016, the Fire Department responded to 1,243 calls for service, 78% of which were EMS related. North St. Paul firefighters attend monthly meetings and training drills, and participate in community events and activities.
