In October of 2016, City Council authorized the preparation of an engineering Feasibility Report for the 2017 Mill and Overlay Improvement Project as part of the Capital Improvement Plan.
An on-site review identified pavement distress, too severe to be addressed with patching and chip sealing to the proposed project. Storm sewer improvements with installation of new catch basins and drain tile along with sanitary sewer improvements are recommended for the project area including, sewer spot repairs and sanitary manhole repairs.
The estimated cost for the 2017 Mill and Overlay Improvement Project including roadway and utility improvements is $1,015,450. Proposed funding for the project is provided through a combination of special assessments and City funds. The bid for the project was awarded to Valley Paving Inc., of Shakopee, Minnesota with a grand total bid of $800,276.00 or approximately 21% below the construction estimate. Construction is expected to start in May with completion in September.
